Job Title: Welsh language Community Development Officer

Location: Menter Iaith Casnewydd, Unit 2, Newport Market, Newport, NP20 1DD

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week            

Salary: £24,500 

Holidays: 24 days' leave on top of statutory Bank Holidays

 

Menter Iaith Casnewydd is a not-for-profit charity and community company that exists to promote and facilitate the use of Welsh in the City and County of Newport.

The work of Menter Iaith Casnewydd's Community Development Officer is to create and facilitate opportunities for the use of Welsh by developing, implementing and supporting a programme of activities and events (varied and comprehensive) based on community consultation.

The ideal person will be able to identify opportunities to promote the use of Welsh and be full of ideas to develop existing provision and initiate entirely new activities. We are looking for a friendly, energetic and enthusiastic person who is expected to have an understanding of, and interest in the Welsh language and issues relating to Wales. 

You will work as part of a team to support the core and wider work of Menter Iaith Casnewydd but also independently, with the freedom o largely manage your own work (within parameters).

You will be able to communicate confidently (both in Welsh and in English, verbally and in writing) with a variety of people, both in person and using social media. You are expected to be eager for new experiences and to acquire a wide range of new skills.
