Menter Iaith Casnewydd has opened a new unit, on the High Street in the centre of the city

28/11/22

As some of you are aware, Menter Iaith Casnewydd has opened a new unit, on the High Street in the centre of the city, within Newport Market - an extremely exciting development. This is part of our effort to be more accessible to our community, to offer opportunities and a location for you to use Cymraeg and give the language more of a visual presence in Newport, so come and see your local Menter Iaith’s new home!  We're near Tiny Rebel bar, opposite Subway.

Unfortunately, as a result of problems beyond Menter Iaith Casnewydd's control, we have to postpone the annual meeting. We would be holding an AGM in the new year, and we will inform you as soon as the details have confirmed.

The unit is designed to be a flexible multi-use space. "Hybrid" meetings can be hosted here and the unit includes an information / resource station, an exhibition area, an area for children, a kitchen, Y Cornel performance corner, a place for meetings & flexible activities as well as a working location for the team. We'd like to hold a range of activities here – there is a questionnaire below for you to express your opinion about the types of activity you would like us to hold.

We’d like the unit to offer an opportunity to socialize and use Cymraeg, so you are welcome to pop in whenever we are open (9am-5pm Monday-Friday) for a cup of tea and a chat. The unit is also a community resource, so if you'd like to hold an event here let us know. Likewise, the exhibition space is open to local organisations, businesses and associations to exhibit and trade on a "pop-up" basis. If you are interested in volunteering in the unit let us know.

For more information on any of the above, contact post@mentercasnewydd.cymru

Or, of course, you're very welcome to call in to see us!
